Association of South East Asia Nations was founded five fathers founders of Southeast countries including Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thai regarding to Bangkok Declaration on August 8th, 1967. In contents of Bangkok Declaration, countries in region will cooperate in the economic, social, cultural, educational, technical, and other fields. Moreover, promotion regional peace and stability through abiding respect for justice and rule of law and adherence to the principles of the UN charter. Besides, representing the collective will of the nations of Southeast Asia to bind themselves together in friendship and cooperation and, through joint efforts and sacrifices, secure for their people and for posterity the blessings of Peace, Freedom, and Prosperity.
Stages of Development ASEAN:
1. First 10 years (1967-1976): establishment, solidarity, and dialogue partners
2. The next 20 years (1977-1997): expansion (5, 6, 9, 10)
3. The next 10 years (1998-2007): vision and formalization
4. The next 7 years (2008-2015): formalization and community building
